| Supercomet 2 | | - Fakultät 2 - Kultur- und Naturwissenschaften - Institut für Naturwissenschaften und Technik |  | | : | | | | : | SUPERCOMET 2 targets on-the-job training of physics teachers by offering a toolkit for inspiring and encouraging pupils to learn exciting physics in a non-traditional fashion. Physics education in Europe is facing a crisis regarding lack of recruitment and the large numbers of physics teachers that will soon end their active careers. This affects the potential for technology progress and the development of society. The SUPERCOMET 2 project contributes to changing this unfortunate trend through providing educational materials that are challenging, interesting and fun for both pupils and teachers.
The SUPERCOMET 2 project is currently testing and evaluating the materials developed in the SUPERCOMET project - interactive animations, text and video presenting electromagnetism and superconductivity with an accompanying teacher guide and a teacher seminar. The materials are translated and adapted for use in 15 European countries. Based on this testing and evaluation, the materials will be expanded and updated according to the results during 2006 and 2007. Also, the project is testing and developing hands-on materials for demonstrating and measuring phenomena related to superconductivity, electromagnetism and electrostatics.
